Can anyone tell me if the air cleaner in this photo is correct for '37 1/2 ton?

Also, is the fuel filter correct?

From what I can tell from what little documentation I have, I think not for either.

(I love this edit feature!!!)

While we are at it, how about this whatzit on the fuel tank. The fuel tank I have on mine doesn't have such an appendage:

And... I thought that all 1937 pickups had a two piece lower seat cushion. This one has a one piece:

Mine has a two piece lower cushion...

Did these details vary from factory to factory, or is this just what it takes to keep a farm truck running for 40 years (this one has set for 20 or so).

The whatzit looks like a truck jack, that goes under the axle to raise the wheel.

Yes, the edit feature is nice!
...the gas filter looks a tad large from the photo, to me, maybe it is like those on large trucks or industrial engines.

The fuel filter looks like a Carter -was red?-That type was sold in the '50's.--Chevrolet did not offer a fuel filter in 1937.
I have never seen an air filter like that on a Chevrolet

Thanks Gene. I'm just looking at the pictures also, so I don't know if the fuel filter was red or not. If you blow it up, you can see what looks like the remains of fuel in the bottom. A filter here seems like a pretty good idea.

By the way, the whatzit jack... is this the way the OEM jacks looked?

Since I've never seen a whole '37 chevy truck at once, I really don't know what to look for.

That jack looked like the one my Dad carried in his 34 and then his 47 pickups, I have no idea if it was a Chevrolet issue, I bought one exactly like it last year in a junkstore here in Midland for $1.10, I sandblasted the rust off, got the parts turning and it looks good, it has a flip up square extension on the top where yours has the round cap.
That aircleaner looks like one off of a farm tractor or a combine.

The air cleaner is the correct one for 1932 to 1935 trucks. It is not too well known as one member with a '32 pickup had points taken off at the Central Meet for having one installed. If that is not well known how about the oil bath air cleaners for the '34 -'36 models? Looks like the '37 truck air cleaner is an oil bath the same as the '36.

The jacks for the trucks are not too well documented or known. A few are pictured some sales literature like the truck data books but most are unknown.

Well, thanks for the information everyone. Still no one willing to weigh in on the split lower seat cushion?

Chip is correct. I checked my 1934 shop manual and the the truck oil bath air cleaner looks just like that.Would be worth some money to a person with a 1932 -35 truck.

My literature shows the split cushion for cabs in 1937.The split cushion was used so the driver could relax and smoke a cigar while the filling station attendant filled the tank. stressed

I thought I read (98% sure) in one of the '32 service News (forgot which month) that a oil bath air cleaner was available as an option (in '32) for people who lived in very dusty areas. ok

The jack is definately not for the 37 pickup. I have an original jack including tools with my 37 and know of a gentleman in Southern New Jersey that has an 18,000 mile 37 pickup that has all the original tools including the tire pump that had a wrap of paper around the cylinder and hose, indicating that it was never used. In fact I located the tools wrapped in burlap with the tire pump in back of the seat for the previous owner. This was back in 1975 in Macungie, Pa at the August car show, and thats the truth!! The 37 Jack is very similar to truck jacks up through the 60's and has a long folding handle that operates the jack at the base.
The seats are all split in 37 for 1/2 ton and up.

Thanks Walt. Sometime I'd like to see some pictures of your truck if you don't mind... I have two '37 trucks that were in various stages of disassembly, and now the one I'm working on is really scattered (I finished taking a rolling chassis down to a bare frame, and have been stuck there looking for a tight version of this part (aft spring mount for front spring):

With this part, I can begin to start putting things back together.

Does anyone there in Chevy land have tech knowledge on 37 Chev trucks and Commercial vehicles? The very nice 37 truck Technical Assistant only had information on half ton pickups. I need assistance with Single unit and 3/4 Ton thru Ton & half 37 Chevys. Please email me at < c1937@znet.com > if you can halp. Let me know if you have a specific expertise,
Thank you, Lou
