The fuel tank straps fit 1936-46 cab models (not panels). They are 30 1/2" long.

Don't know if new replacements are available, but if the straps aren't too weird in shape you might try taking the old ones to a good welder or tinsmith and they might be able to make you a new ones that would look correct and work right. cool

Just a shot in the dark, hope it helps. laugh

gator,

thanks for the suggestion...the straps are ok, but the stud ends are corroded...they are threaded studs that have been flattened & riveted to the sheet metal straps...

we could make new ends, but thought someone might know where we could just buy a new pair that are correct to original...

hey brian,

you'll get a kick out of this...that's your tank we put in just yesterday...it went about seven miles before it stalled out for lack of fuel to the carb...we had to walk home, get the k1500, a tow strap, and my wife to get the kc home... :(

we think the fuel pump is full of crud from the old tank...will disassemble it tomorrow to see if this is the case...

we're still hoping to find some good tank straps...

Kepi, I use a clear 99 cent vw filter inline when I first use a tank that has been just cleaned or sitting for any length of time. Do you have a glass sediment bowl? Are you using any type of filter?

brian,

yes, we had a plastic filter in-line...that's what plugged...

we have a nos fuel pump w/glass bowl that we haven't installed until everything in the fuel system is clean and good...for now, it's a new replacement-type fuel pump that the previous owner put in a couple years back...
