I posted a topic on the chevy truck message board. The title of the topic was CV Joint. Now I know this is a VCCA is a classis car organization, but the message board does not state for what year of chevy truck it is talking about. What I want to know is why it was removed from the message board. The title of the message board reads "Chevy Trucks". Therefor it should be open to ALL chevrolet truck makes and models.

Well the gateway to the chatroom is the VCCA home page. That page states.... "Welcome to the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America's Web Site. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Chevrolets from 1911 to 1977."
But mdtractor you do have a point! The chatroom maybe should be more specific on the years of Chevy Trucks that topics are open for discussion on; and just maybe the "Header" of the chatroom page needs the disclosure "VCCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and preservation of Chevrolets." (This may forwarn the real-cool hodrodders that they have entered strange territory.)
Anyways, maybe your question should have been posted in General Discussions. I think you are owed a reason for the posts' move, or deletion. Keep cool buddy, we all is still working on what defines an old Chevy Truck....heck I got a magazine of Vintage Trucks that thinks Station Wagons should be called trucks... and then there is Blazers and Utes....

MD Tractor, your message was deleted because no-one responded to it for a length of time, probably because the majority of the members of Chevy Chatter aren't familiar with the 1995 4x4 C.V joints. There wasn't any intentions of causeing you a problem, however the Moderators have to make decisions as to what should be retained on the topic board. You may have more results by posting on one of the forums that relate to the newer trucks.

MD Tractor, did you determine as to whether you would be able to do the service work on the cv joint? I have had later model 4x4 Chevrolets and I have a complete shop and tools for the 1976 series of full time 4 wheel drives and I would not attempt to do a 95 model. I have a 1995 2 wheel drive 1500 and a 1989 2 wheel drive 2500. I bought a repair manual at Advance Auto Parts for the 1989 thru 1995 trucks and consider it a good buy for around $15 unless you have a repair manual and some of the special tools (one is a large socket to remove the hub)IMHO the job should be left to a pro. I would have replyed to your original posting if I had thought I could have helped.

Yes I got everything taken care of. I replaced the CV Joint this morning and it only took about an hour from the time I started to the time I finished. They are very easy to do. All you have to do is disassemble the front brakes and then loosen the axle nut and with a couple taps of the hammer the cv joint is loose. I went to a shop and got an estimate to do they job they were going to charge $350.00. I figured I saved $250 to do it myself.
This is one of the only message board that I have found for chevy trucks, does anyone know of any others out there that are any good?
Thanks,
Michael

MD Tractor, that sounds like you had a painless and succesful CV joint replacement. here is a link to Chevy Duty's Truck forum: http://www.chevyduty.com/frame-store.html not that we are trying to run another VCCA member off. But they have forums more directed at modern trucks, come back anytime!
