I'm curious to know whether anyone with a '30 has ever bothered to check their fuel economy...I'm wondering what others are getting... epi

Actually,
This is a VERY interesting article topic. If EVERYONE could post what their fuel economy for any car is, it would be helpful, interesting, and a good item for the G&D...don't you think?

I have a '31 Roadster with a '30 engine, and '31 tranny and rearend. I have not really paid attention to my fuel consumption, but it seems to be in the 12- 13 MPG range. I would guess since I have the '31 running gear, i would think my milage would be less than the 1930 drive train (due to lower gearing).

Our 1931 gets about 12-14 mpg depending on terrain and speed. Oh ya, it is a 5000 lb '31 Fire truck with 5.42 gear ratio. Does 50+ mph on the flat, slower in the hills.

My 1934 Master averages about 17 MPG at 55 MPH.18 at 50 mph.One one trip I drove the '34 and my wife the '57 V-8--both averaged the same milage.The '39 would do about 16 at 60 MPH with the 4.22 gears.Now runs about 17 at 65 MPH with 3.73 gears.1950 Power Glide about 17 at 65 MPH.1963 Corvair P.G. 25 at 65 MPH.

Not a 31 or a 30 but....the 53 with 235 manual choke and 3 on the tree, gets 18 mpg at 60 to 65 mph on the flat ground, Klinkerbelle (1928 sedan) got 14 mpg in the mountains of N.M and a lot of the driving was in 2nd gear (15 to 18mph) and on the flat of (45 mph), The speedometer and odometer was remarkable correct compareing it to the Tahoe and it's odometer maybe it got good milage was because it was making gasoline going down hill?

I've been guessing my '32 gets about 20~21+/- MPG. However, that's mainly from gentle putt-putting around town at about 25 MPH. I follow all the directions on my WWII gas ration "A" tag. Y'know - properly fill my tires - drive no faster than 30 MPG. And is this trip really necessary? Like my post awhile ago, I've attributed some of the good mileage to the Junkyard Dog's skillful reconstruction of my carburetor. I have noticed on the rare long drives the gas tank drains faster - perhaps it drops to 15 MPG by then?
