There has been a great deal of discussion on 'Chatter' on the correct 6 engine paint and the FS is about the only place that has the "correct" color ("correct" means backed by some good evidence). :)

If you do a "paint color" search of 'Chatter' you will find some very interesting discussions on this topic.

You will also find with your 'search', some discussions on which items in the engine bay are painted black (and which black) and which are painted engine color. laugh

My 32 engine Is painted with the paint that the filling station sells, and the color, paint, And putting It on Is the best. I do not use a spray can for touching up. The paint can be brushed on for touching up different spots and the paint blends In perfect. Good luck chevy chevy

There was some talk that the FS paint was pre-thinned and could be sprayed right from the can.I did not find this true and did need to thin it quite a bit but as CHEVY said its a great paint to work with...chef- chevy

The can of engine paint that I received from the Filling Station was premixed and ready to spray. I sprayed it directly as it came from the can and it sprayed beautifully. I purchased the can about three months ago. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Ya, that's weird because if I would have thinned the paint in the can that I have it would have been way to thin. The consistency in the can was perfect for spraying as is, and I was told when I ordered the paint that it was premixed. Anyway, glad that it worked out for you. yipp laugh laugh laugh drink drink

Ok, I have removed cleaned up the transmission from a recently acquired 1930 engine. The bell housing is painted. Looks good. The question is now, is the clutch fork painted dark blue grey, black or is it bare metal? I am thinking the fork should be dark blue gray. Everything I have read is that the engine was painted after assembly.
Any assistance on this and information on the engine compartment is greatly appreciated. chevy chevy
