I've posted the plan.
https://vccachat.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=23&t=000046

If we can get everything fixed this weekend, then it will give us the Thanksgiving weekend off!! And we'll have a working Discussion Board!

You WILL notice a difference in the new Board. Some of you won't like it at all... I apologize in advance. The best that I can say is that I hope that it grows on you. The good things about it may not be immediately obvious but they are there.

There have been lots of other communities that have gone through this upgrade and they posted similar comments. But in the end, the "new" eventually outweighs the "old".

So, while trying to take the positive side of this, let's get on with it and return our Board to it's old high performance self. Sort of like putting that 350 into my '31. Oooops... bad analogy.

And, yes... go ahead and begin the dialogue in this thread. chevy

Yeah, "we will be back late Saturday or Sunday" but which Saturday or Sunday, should we check back around Monday?
I guess this would be a good weekend to get some yard work and leaf rakeing done! Or better yet hang around the garage and winterize the old cars get them ready for the Christmas light tours and a toy run.
BYE!

After struggling here from time to time, I'm looking forward to the new CHAT II and all the new tricks we're all going to have to learn will be interesting in itself.

Good luck switching over Bill. Hey, maybe we can have another SPEED TEST. Hope we don't need it.

See you next week.

Test testing... so close but so far away.

What do you think of the SPEED at this location?

Nothing is as simple as it first appears. GO! Bill

Agrin

(edit) On this simple post the speed was like old times. I could live with it.

todays posting as quick as last month. since the chatter was gone yesterday and today, was able to get a good bit done on the 30 roadster pickup. replaced the graphite throw out bearing with the Verlyn Husman upgrade, replaced the cork seal in the torque tube with the filling station neoprene seal and replaced the leaking differential to axle housing gasket. the above took about 12 hours without chatter. would have taken 1 1/2 that time had chatter been online. thanks for all you do for us billy boy. mike

Hey, Mike... I propose that we take Chatter down on a regular basis just so you can get some work done on your '30!!! ha ha....

Problem is... I have the opposite result. When it's down, I don't get 'nuthin done... not even sleep! wazzup

Wow... I sure like the speed that I'm seeing.

tried to post a "one liner" and got a "Permission Denied" message

this took less than 10 seconds

Some days it doesn't pay to chew through the restraints!!

Not to concerned about it since CHAT II is coming.....I'm sure there will be some other bugs to work out.

Sorry Ken.. there are a couple of glitches left... but I figured that having the old site up with glitches was better than none at all.

Can't you wait another day? -- oops... where have I heard THAT before? (besides at home  )

Bill, do you think the dreaded "Active X" deal will go away when we go on CHAT II? The one and only place I still get it is on the 1937-42 forum.

I'll let you know what happens when we get to CHAT II.

I'll look at the '37-42 location... You don't get it on any other forums?

Monday morning here. What a pleasant surprise!! CC is back. And working just fine.

And the Speed is nearly BLINDING.

VERY fast!!!

auto :cool2:

Hang in there Bill. Maybe get a nap or something! Thanks, again, for all you do for "us."

Bill.

(I did just notice the time stamp is 8 hours behind. It's actually about 10am; not 2am. I'll see if I can fix it in profiles.)

(Going from -5 back to [+]3 got my post to show the correct time....958am, PST.)

Yeah, and it is still on the 49-54 forum also. It is probably the "MUSIC" since it has been there ever since the "MUSIC" was added.

Bill
I will add my thanks for what you are doing and will not try to guess at the hours of time it has and will take to finalize.
Tonight everything seems to work as it should.

Bill, I am still getting the active X down to 1960 on everything except 1937-42
After 1960 I don't see it in opening any of the other topics.
Again thanks for your efforts.

It is really funny but on a day when I boot up and I notice good speed on my email, etc. it seems to be good all across the web. Here included, but the last few weeks this site had been slower by a bit. Now today it is all up to lightning speed. A holiday and all the offices are closed, maybe it is the web is just getting so much traffic at times everything slows down, it seems to be getting worse year by year and month by month, or is it just me getting older? And my computer getting slower?

Also Ken48, The dreaded red X is also gone from the 49-54 page. Maybe we are back on the road again!

Thanks for the comments... I think we have a winner. The new hosting company is really, really fast. I'm so happy with them, I may move a couple of my other sites (eg. http://1932chevrolet.com over to them.

In honor of GobbleGobble Day, I have taken a shot at all of the Active-X turkeys. (Pun intended.) Let me know if you still see any of them running around.

Also, If you have any last minute changes that you want, let me know right away.. it'll be easier for me to make them here than in the new environment. It's going to take me a whlle to spin-up on it. But "Once I get over the angst" I"m sure that I'll make better progress (ie. move faster!! stressed (kudos, Chipper)
