Your cousin's 1932 5-window coupe is a Canadian model. The car was originally painted Crown Maroon and Black with Schelco Red wire wheels. :cool2: laugh laugh laugh laugh

Yes, you can do it, and other dudes have. It's a job though and it would help if you had access to a rumble seat lid. Also, if you do convert the car to a rumble seat, the Job Number on the cowl tag will still indicate that your car is a standard 5-window coupe with no rumble seat. If I were you, I would leave it alone. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Dan;
I have a real Sport Coupe, job # 32558, body # T-679, Trim # 17, Paint # 105. If your cousin want's to convert the trunk to a rumble seat, I have a story and diagrams from an old G&D article printed many years ago. I can scan it and send it to you, if you like. Get back to me on that.
Hey JYD. I'd like to know just how many '32 SptCpe's were produced, and how many are left. Is that something for Karnack to answer, or can ya take a stab at it? If not. How does one research it? :confused:

There were 26,623 sport coupes manufactured in 1932. How many are left? Well......I don't know the exact figure, but there are a lot of them still floating around since that is a very popular car. And, I know about 4 or 5 of them that are phony sport coupes (standard 5-window coupes coverted to sport coupes), and a couple of them even had new Fisher Body cowl tags made to reflect the Job Number change from 32567 to 32558. With that change, it is almost impossible to tell the conversion. The others still reflect on the cowl tag that they were once (and still are) standard 5-window coupes. This modification would be caught in judging if the VCCA recognized the Fisher Body cowl tag information. laugh laugh laugh

Thanks for the info. I think with 26,6k originals there would indeed be quite a few left. But, how many of them are in Deluxe vs. Standard trim. It has always been a problem for me to figure out a Deluxe from Standard when it comes to the SptCpe, because both were available with some Deluxe Options. Maybe that's why they were so popular. I never would have thought that anyone would see 4 to 5 bogus rumble seats. I believe you, cause all ya have to do is spend some time on e-bay and the word bogus becomes C-L-O-N-E. That's not to mention the car from NJ that eventually won 1st Senior at Hershey many years ago. :eek:
Now what about that flower bed? Is that an original rumble seat. Or did ya flip the lid around to make it easier to water the petunias? dance

Oh yeah, Dan;
I'd talk your cousin into keeping it original. This way he would not have to buy a rumble seat trim kit. wink
But I have those specs and diagrams if he wants them. :)

The rumble lid?? Nope, that's a genunie original rumble lid! However, the Petunias croaked so I have some really pretty red poison oak growing in the rumble seat area now. The nice thing about that stuff is that ya don't have to ever water it, and our Deer herd won't eat it either like they do the stupid Petunias! yipp laugh laugh laugh laugh

Yeah that ivy can be deadly, even to deer.
I wonder if we didn't hit on a new thread here concerning C-L-O-N-E's at our VCCA events. I DON'T WANT TO START ACCUSING ANY ONE! But how does the VCCA judges look at "adjusted body types"? devil

Well our Texas deer like rose bushes better than candy! I haven't tried poison oak, I don't like that stuff at all! I bet one would be surprised how many clones get off being original SS super sports. I have been looking for a plain Jane Camero or Malibu HT for touring and everything for sale is a SS supersport something with racing stripes and a gas guzzler with a 411. Surely they made something besides drag racing mustle-cars?

I have seen several cars being judged that were "clones", and the judges never picked them up because they didn't look at the cowl tags with the Job or Style numbers to see what the cars really were in their first lifetime. :( :( :(

You are correct Mr. Mack. It is rare to find a plain old Camaro/Chevelle. And what about those guys that are hanging Roadster bodies on Coupe frames? Someone on e-bay is selling a 69 L-88 block and the bid last night was around $6,000 bucks. Wonder what SS clone that will wind up in!
I think all this makes our cars worth that much more. laugh
