Just wanted to point this out. I rec'd my bi-monthly Old Autos paper today and I noticed an advertisement for VCCA recruiting new Canadian members. To my surprise there was no mention of the chat forum at all. Just struck me alittle funny thats all. What a good way to promote the online forum. jmo. By the way, Old Autos is the Canadian old car bible with I believe a circulation of 80,000. Cheers!!!

Unfortunately many of the "powers that be" don't feel that the chatsite is an asset. Way too many see it as giving away one of the major assets of the VCCA, the technical advise from experienced members. They feel that only members should be able to receive it. Maybe informed members will convince them that it can be a powerful recruiting tool.

Yes folks, that is the reality of what we is.
There are many of the general membership that view this endeavor as a toy for a group of geeks, that sit around the computer keyboard and cause trouble and engage in controversaial things that only cost the club problems and bring up stuff that should be better off left unsaid.
NOW! I think that leaves us the job of promoteing the value and the potential of the site for the really good things the site is and to demonstrate that we are serious about our activities here,in a manner that will reflect some honor and worth to the general membership and garner their support, and their participation here.
That is main reason that we wish to promote the value and need for the VCCACHAT.org site.
The VCCACHAT.org site did not even exist, as it is now, at the time of the last VCCA Anniversary Meeting in 2001 in Springfield.

I don't hold with the theory that any knowledge and experiance of the indivigual members or non-members of VCCA ,for that matter are an asset owned by the club, It is kind of like saying that an indivigual or an organization owns the atmosphere or the waters of the great oceans and seas of the planet. My Native American blood as small as it may be actually leads me to believe that the land, water, air and it's creatures should belong to nature and the Great Spirit, and we humans should be good shephards for nature. That experiance and knowledge should be freely passed down from the elder generations to the younger generations to improve the knowledge of the tribe and the race.

46aero - that ad in old autos was just an ad for attracting members to join the Southern Ontario Region of the vcca. It was not to attract members to this chat site. (once we get them to join the vcca/SOR then point out the site.)
AS a member of the SOR we are trying to get people to get out in their chevies and attend club related functions
AS a young pup I do believe in the younger generation listening and learning from those old timers 'cause once they are gone so are those great old stories

Hey 38653; I can appreciate what you are trying to do but I think adding the web site to the add would be the way to go. Before I join or commit to anything I research it. What a better way to see what VCCA is all about. Jmo of course but I think you may find better results by adding the web site to the add. As soon as I receive my membership I'll will be in contact with you. Cheers!!!!

I agree with aero, Most folks surfing the web have a hard time finding our Lone Star Region's web site (LSRCLUB.org) there isn't anything about Chevrolet in the URL address and a search engine has nothing to latch onto. I had the site linked on my profile and several got there from the postings here. It seems like to me, I always look on any advertisment for a web site address whether it is car parts, electronics, supplies, lawn & garden stuff, nurseries etc.

46earo - I personnally did not put the ad in old auto's, at our regional meeting tomorrow I will bring up your issue.
MrMack - The SOR's ad was to attract new members and it listed 2 of our e-board members emails for further info as the website for the SOR region is closed to VCCA members only - It was voted that it be a members only site ( I was one of the no votes on closed site )

Hey 38653; That's all one can ask for is to bring to the attention of the almightys. The SOR site isn't as big of a deal as the VCCA web site is. I really appreciate your responses. If you get a chance let me know how you make out. Have a great weekend. One other thing. Can you tell me if there are any VCCA members in the Windsor/Leamington area (Essex County)? Cheers!!!

46aero,
It would be helpful if you listed your VCCA membership number in your Bio so that you can be identified. I know two active VCCA members in your area (and others) but I'm reluctant to give out their personal information. If you belong to the VCCA, you can review your National Roster for the information you seek. One individual lives in Camlachie, Ont. and the other lives in Charing Cross, Ont. That's as far as I'm willing to go with the informaion at this time and I hope you can understand why?

Correction to previous posting: Camlachie, Ont. should be Wheatley, Ont., a lot closer.

Good discussion. Thanks for exercising caution about passing on other member's information. This Chat site is open to the public, but membership information is not. That's also the reason why the information about the Technical Advisors was removed from the website. http://vcca.org/advisors.htm I'm sure that a lot of other people are monitoring this thread among others that continue to discuss possible positive improvements to the club's operations and functions. Anyone who thinks that we can continue operating in the same way that we have in the past is ignoring current facts and data... Unfortunately this information is not readily available therefore we must continue to trust the National Board to look out for the future of the club. That's something to keep in mind the next time that elections are upcoming.

Thanks 38653; That's all I wanted to know. I will contact you when I receive my membership as I mentioned a couple of posts ago. Oldie; Thanks for your reply. If you would have read all the posts you would have seen why there is no vcca # in my bio. Hopefully there will be in the next week or so. Have a great day all.
