I just want to remind everyone who has elected the option to check their "private messages". I have sometimes gone weeks before finding that someone has tried to get in touch with me. Just click the "my profile" tab at the top of the page. It's easy to forget...Is it possible to have that tab flash when you have an unread message, or maybe a little icon next to your username or something, Bill? SPEEDLINE

Speedline, there is a box to check concerning private messages that will notify you of a private message being sent to your profile box. It works for me.

Mr Mack is correct. Go to your profile and click on review/update, scroll down toward the bottom and: "Be notified by email when someone sends you a private message? Yes No" Check YES

Mine is checked "yes" and I don't get them in my e-mail most of the time. :( :( I think 'Speedline' has a good idea about having something on this site telling you that you have a new private message.  I hate to think that people think I'm not answering them or worse.

That is strange, I don't think I have missed one yet. It is just a matter of habit to check your profile, like fastening your seat belt.
Went to look and....I just noticed I have sent 4 or 5 private messages that haven't been read by the members I sent them to, Oh Well......what can one say?

That is what brothers me also, a lot of the messages are listed as 'unread', there must be a reason for that. :confused: :( :confused: :( :confused: :(

I have checked that little box, but sometimes I have missed the alert. A few of mine are listed as "unread" also. I just assumed the person didn't want to talk to me! SPEEDLINE

Ha ha... you guys continue to crack me up!!! Like Donald said, "if you didn't send so many messages to yourself, then you wouldn't have to check for mail in the in-box!!" No JYD, I think even worse is sending myself a message then when I read it, I wonder what the heck did I Mean, anyway??
Or....when there is no mail in my box,kinda like the Korean War Public Service TV announcement where the young soldier was at mail call and didn't get a letter again for the umpteenth time, he says
"No mail for XXXXXXX (I will let you fill in an ethnic name that doesn't offend you) today?" with a sad, sad face.
I think it was the U.S.O. wanting you to write to the young servicemen so far away.......

I don't know if a "privite message" automatically gets sent to that person's email or if its an option, but I just checked my messages under "my profile" and all of those I already read by email. I guess now I "offically" read them if anyone had any doubts on my part. I never checked via "my profile" before tonight. Always thought they were sent by email. Sorry if anyone was worried about me not reading them. Guess I should check more often than once a year?? So if they are always sent to one's email, you can be assured that I'll read them as I do read my emails. Now I learned something new! :)
