Hi Mr. Bill; Just a suggestion...A lot of posts say to hop over to eBay motors to see an item for sale. I wonder if a link to eBay Motors might be a good idea. This link might edge on free advertising, but you already have links for parts and services. I just thought of something else... How about including the member VCCA # with the forum name. That would show us who we are talking to, dealing with, and taking advice from.

RGwiz, just a note, since the member profile has the VCCA number on it it is a easy one click operation to check the profile,(then you can check the 2001 directory,) but eventually if we are going to make a "Members only Site' there will also have to be a filter or a comparison device to check that when a member signs in that the number shown is really his/hers and is in good standing.

Thanks Mr. Macky! I knew ya can click over to the profile. I just thought it would be a good idea to see the infomation right up front. Since everybody is getting real paranoid about deception and non-member use, might as well have all the cards on the table, Ya know?

RGwiz I like your Idea of your VCCA number being part of your name handle area. Mr Mack, I think most members post there VCCA number on there profile although one does not have to I believe.

Dan & Mr.Macky; I didn't notice if including the VCCA # was a required box. It's been so long ago... but a very good point. Macky what do you think? Also, what about that link to eBay Motors? Every time I go over to that site I get lost in all the banner stuff. I can never find the items you guys are refering to. Also, Mr. Bill, someone mentioned a link to the Chevrolet Site and vice versa. Chevy might be interested. I guess I sound like a kid on Christmas morning, It's never enough! But anyway, Billy, you have done a great job, and buy the looks of some current strings, lots of goodies are coming our way. Keep up the good work. If I can be of any help, let me know.

I would like to see a thread dedicated for just e-bay items, sort of a "Bay Watch" this way members can pass on any items they see of interest, or even list items that they are putting on. I have been selling some stuff on e-bay, and I am very pleased. One thing I noticed is the real nice stuff does not get much action, and the real junky stuff goes like crazy, even when it is listed as junk. I think this would be a great tool for the site. Even when non-members post at least we will be made aware of an item up for bid. John

I like this thread... you dudes brought up some really good, and different ideas... naturally they won't all get implemented, but they do show some rare "out of the box" thinking.... keep it up... and hey! Check the nav bar to the left for changes based upon your ideas. You rock!

I found that finding what I wanted to look at on eBay rather easy. Go to eBay and click on eBay home. When the window comes up type in the search window like for instance 1928 Chevrolet or 1932 Chevrolet and it will search the entire eBay for that item, oralso for instance Bob the Builder, that is for my grandson, he is an eBay nut at 3 years of age. Ha!

Another topic about using search engines to locate the VCCA reminded me of this. When doing a search on Ebay for "1938 Chevrolet" you will get results for that search, but only for those words. Try searching "38 Chevrolet", too. You will be amazed at how much more stuff you'll find.

If there was only a way to eliminate going thru the long lists of "toys" and models.I always use the word Chevrolet first and then the year (1950).Then when I switch years only the last numeral needs to be changed.

All that yu have to do to eliminate the toys and models is on the left side of the first page that comes up with the search is check which catagory you want to search and the other catagories are elimnated, The reason I like to go to the home page is so that nothing on eBay is eliminated. There isn't that many pages for 1928 Chevrolet or whatever if you put the year first in the search box. ( You can change the year the same way as Chev nut does for your next search if you like.) Yeah if you type in 28 chevy for instance you get all the Z28 chevrolet stuff.

Chev Nut-
Search in "Ebay Motors". It is a separate division of Ebay that only sells cars, parts, manuals, etc. If there is something you want eliminated from your search, type "-" and whatever you want eliminated. For example: if you want only 1950 Chevrolet parts without all the diecast toys, search "1950 Chevrolet -diecast". If you still get a lot of crap you don't want, pick a predominant word in the titles of the stuff you don't want to get, and enter that word: "1950 Chevrolet -diecast -predominant word" That will narrow your search down quite a bit.
But, again, if you don't search "50 Chevrolet" too, your missing lots of stuff.

OK, I'm probably giving away some of my secrets, but its to a good group so what the hey. First, if you want to avoid the toys, etc., as was suggested, go to the eBay Motors site. Then, take advantage of the various search options ( Search Tips ) that are available to you. For example, I only want to search for AD truck stuff, prior to 1954, so my search string looks like this: chev* (truck, pickup) (47,1947,48,1948,50,1950,51,1951,52,1952,53,1953,advance) The chev* gets everything that begins with the letters chev. That gets you chev, chevy, chevrolet, even cheverolet (which I have seen). Parentheses function as OR operators. In other words if the title contains chevy and either truck or pickup, the item will be displayed. Same with the years, the example above will pick up items with 47 OR 1947 OR 48 OR advance etc. Give me an email if you want to discuss this some more.
