On a more frivolous subject, I was just curious if these old Chevy-4s had a new car smell when they were new and what they must have smelled like? Has anyone been able to preserve the scent? laugh

My 28 coupe took on the smell of the new upholstery for a while but eventually I believe it will revert back to the smell of warm engine, exhaust, and motor oil. My car has the original wood in good condition but I would expect that new wood could also add to the experience.

Cheers,
Ron

It has been an unexpected pleasure to discover that just the smell of the interior of our twenty eight alone is very satisfying and rewarding. It takes on a different aroma while being driven; almost as good, but nothing can really match the smell inside after being covered for a while.
The downside is that the stench from roadkill hits instantly without mercy or warning!

The size of roadkill is proportional to the tire size of the vehicle one is driving. While driving my half ton Silverado seeing a possum or armadillo in the road is of no concern. Seeing the same while in my 26 is of great concern.

I have a 34 Master 4 door with the original leather trim and everyone makes comments on the great smell of the old leather, I doubt you get that with an open car.
My original 28 coach, with it's original cord trim has no trim smell at all, other than an old dusty smell
