Wood spoke or disc wheels, Jim? In a pinch I have loosened the six lug nuts up most of the way and used a large three armed puller slid under the reinforcement plate and a gentle tightning of the puller pulled the hub without any damage to the plate. I also have a set of arms for the puller that I have ground the ends off flat enough to get the puller under a 1/2" gap
