I'm confused. That's not a rarity lately. I just ordered a duplicate copy of what I thought was a parts manual for early Chevrolets. Unknowingly it was not. I ordered it from the Filling Station because they have it advertised as a Master Parts Manual, when in fact, it is a Master Parts Price List for the early 4 cylinders et al. Now it gets interesting, MrMack answered one of my questions undeniably from an Parts Manual for early Chevrolets( i.e., no prices) What is going on? The Filling Station people were very nice and allowed me to return my duplicate copy. Is there really a Master Parts Manual or not? Hopefully, MrMack can answer this question...where did you get your manual and what is its exact title??? I want one! Confused in Charleston!!!

bacchus 10, Ok a little explaination seems to be in order....

One of out regular contributors here (K. Hardy)has a web site he did for old car manuals, that is where I got the info I posted. The link below is to that manual. to locate the other manuals: go to Old Car Manuals

for 1916 1928 parts manual go to: 1928 parts manual

The "Master Parts Price List" is actually the Chevrolet parts manual and it is what most of us call a parts manual or a parts book.

MrMack,
Thanks! I'm still wondering if this manual is available for purchase? I've tried to copy Mr. Hardy's web site and it is labor intensive to copy page by page for all the parts. Surely this manual is available somewhere.

Hi bacchus10,

What you need is the "MASTER PARTS PRICE LIST" with a date of Feb 1, 1928. This book covers all 4 cylinders from 1928 back. For the cone clutch type Chevrolets it is not the best, however for the flat clutch bunch it is right on.

Contact Gary Wallace at 314 293-1991 and tell him what you want.

If you wish to have a parts book that covers just one year and one model, talk to Gary about that also.

While you are at it you should also pick up a Repair Manual. Gary, again.

All of these items are re-prints. If you want original, put your wants in the Parts Wanted section and watch eBay.

bacchus10 The 1928 master parts price list is your best bet for 1916-1928 parts. You may also find parts list books for '25 &'26. These are for the model 'K' & 'V' only. Chevrolet also had manuals titled "Genuine Chevrolet Parts for Four Cylinder Models." I think these were made every year up into the late 1940's. I have the '39, '40, and '47 issues. These books seem to be lists of parts available in the Chevrolet parts houses. Some later parts superseded older seperate part numbers. In other words "one part now fits all." Abebooks.com may have some of the books you are looking for; or keep an eye on EBAY. Hope this helps.

Gary Wallace is the source for my hard copies of both the owners manual, Parts manual and repair manual for 1928 cars. I also found a old original Chevrolet Master Parts and Accessories catalog, 1929 - 1954 at a swap meet it is dogeared and has the appearance of being in a fire, only the margin on one corner is charred. I find it is well worth the $20 bill I gave for it. It is also the only original copy that I have found.

I have found that while on the internet the Old Car manuals are the quick find for Chevrolet parts and repair information

of course the one and only Gene "Chev Nut" Schneider our walking, talking Chevy parts Guru par execellincee....Is the pinnacle of knowledge surpassed by no other.

There is a vast assortment of part lists (I have 20+ of them) for the four cylinder Chevys. At least one has been reprinted the "Master Parts Price List" "effective February 1, 1928" or more commonly called a parts book or part manual. It is illustrated, maybe not profusely but enough to tell what some parts look like. Ray is right on when he suggests it is good for the flat clutch plate Chevys. Many of the parts for the older vehicles were no longer available when it was published. A wanted ad on this site, in the G&D or elsewhere. If the book desired is an original the price will be much higher than a reprint.
