This is too easy. That is the bracket and strap that holds the muffler.

It is attached to the frame on the passenger side opposite to the battery box which is on the drivers side.

Thanks for your help. Being right hand drive it would be on the drivers side for me, after having a look it must be bolted on with one of the bolts that hold the running board brackets to the frame. there are two holes on the muffler bracket the one that you can't see in the photo is to bolt to the frame whats the other one for? or is it bolted on with one bolt? Thanks for you help as you can see I am new to chevs I am restoring a basket case, the car was pulled apart by a number of previous owners and I am slowly working out what goes where. thanks again everyone!
