I need either to purchase a 28 carb or have the one I already have rebuilt. Mine is missing a needle valve in the air adjustment screw. Who would y'all recommend?

I've read horror stories about carbs being sent off and not getting them back for a year or more and at least in one case the rebuilder lost the carb.

My car will be a driver and not a show car so I don't need anything fancy.

While I'm on the subject I've been told there are things that can be done to these old carbs to improve performance. Any truth to that?

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you were a VCCA member there are members that provide services to other members. They have small listings published in the G&D just before the Classified Ads. There are some listed that rebuild carburetors. Discression prevents me from recommending one in this public forum but if you email me I can recommend one.

I had Forest Sweet rebuild the carburetor for my 1927. It was a good job with a reasonably fast turn-around. That's the only one I've had done so it isn't much of a comparison, but I was satisfied. The guarantee he gave was fair. I would suspect that most of the VCCA service providers would offer similar cost/quality.

I had the carbuetor rebuilt to "stock" specs. It would be interesting if something could improve on performance.
