Well I pulled her out and tipped her over and guess what... A little wear. #1 and #4 connecting rods have about 1/8" gap on the crank and the crank has .020 end play. Now this babe had good power and no smoking so I was'nt thinking about a top end rebuild or a complete rebuild.  (I'm saving my money for new wood) laugh Whats my options for the crank and connecting rods, or do I close her up,clean her up,paint her up and get ladder out again. Thanks dads 28 [Linked Image from geocities.com]

Hey Dads 28

I would fix it right the first time ,now you got the engine out spend the money once and get the thing fully balanced while you are at it and it will reward you with years of good service.
Waste your time now with a patch up job and spend may times on the side of the road. A worn out old car is just a worn out old car and not fun to tour so I would fix the engine top to bottom. It may cost a bit now but you will save time and money and avoid doing it again later.

I made the mistake when I first restored my 27 Chevy and with less than 1500 miles later I was pulling apart a freshly painted car to fix an old engine that I should have done the first time when I had the chance.
