hi all, I have a 28 AB tourer that has a modern horn I am told it should be a claxton type down on the chasis rail left hand side (its right hand drive)what kind of horn should i be looking for?

The horn is a trumpet style horn which sits down below the generator. It is about 10 inches long overall. The trumpet part is about 7 inches long with an opening of about 3 inches. The rear section is a cylinder about 3 inches long. Later horns have a trumpet with a shallow dish on the rear.
Mine is fitted to the car and I can't see any markings but it is most probably made in Australia by RVB. The location down there is pretty tight so you have to make sure that it will fit. I have actually seen them remounted up onto the exhaust manifold.

Thanks Terry I am going to the Bendigo swap on the weekend and hope to find one. I thought it might be a delco brand. whay would be fair to pay?

Kipper Sarnie could be right about the brand. As I said, mine is buried. Added to the above I will mention that the rear of the trumpet is a flat circular flange which bolts onto the cylinder which is faced with a flat circular flange. Onto the flange (about 5 inch diameter) is bolted a curved bracket which bolts onto the chassis rail.
What is it worth? A rough one I suppose about $20 and then take it home and try to get it to work. A good one about $50-70 but that's just a guess.
