Gentlemen, I'm a new member to your forum and also new in restoring, so I will have lots of questions as the work goes on. I'm fresh imported to Canada and my English isn't what it should be yet, my apologies for that, I run my messages through a spelling checker, but it isn't what it should be yet. Part names aren't in a dictionary and that will be my other problem explaining my questions. I'll snoop around awhile, because most problems are already solved with the older vehicles.
Nice of you to let me in and I hope to learn a lot about my truck and you.

I checked your personal data and it is not indicated that you belong to the VCCA (Vintage Chevrolet Club of America). It is strongly suggested that you join our club. I am the Technical Advisor for the 1925-26 car and have considerable information available on the trucks also. Would be nice also if you have a digital camera and know how to send pictures by email. At the moment I'm trying to learn as much as possible about the Chevy's of the twenties, unfortunately there is not much knowledge left and that is also the reason why I think this truck should be restored. In fifty years, all we have left is pictures and maybe a few museum pieces.
Being in a "new" country brings all kinds of new challenges/problems, where to go for what, which brand to use etc. The language is a minor problem until I want to tell about it. I just found your website and a few others and I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way to go. It is nice to know that there are other people with the same idea's about restoring, locally there is no support for my idea, "If you want to work on an old truck, work on my grain truck"or "If you need to do that, why not fix my '52 so I can use it again" It's just not the same.
For those of you, who like pictures, I keep record of everything on my website, first because I can't make greasy fingerprints on there and it has to teach me to write in English. And because I think that the few vehicles of that era that are left, should be restored and the knowledge shared, so my grandkids (7) can see what a real truck used to look like when Alberta was made. Website; ca.geocities.com/stovebolter_1926/ . I also have a few fixable trucks on there that are for sale by the owner, they are not mine, all I do is show the pictures and give the phone number.
The truck, when finished will have to work for its keep, as we have no use for more dust collectors that are blocking the shop. But they were built to work, with a little maintenance, it won't hurt him. I am in no hurry at all, for the moment there is enough "real" work around here until it gets too cold to work out side. Then I'll have the time to start taking it apart, clean, preserve, paint, store and document it. Fun, all my tools are metric and this truck doesn't even know what that is.
I'll keep you all posted about the progress on my website and I'll drop in here for help and probably moral support when things aren't going as planned.
Thank you for the nice welcome and I'll be in the background reading and reading more about those nice old Chevrolet trucks.

first a welcome to chevtruck1926 it is great to see another northener with a early chevy. next to bluezone nice truck as well as that nice harley with a chair there is nothing like 4 cyl chevy's and old hogs

Hello everyone. I am a bit longer with the - 25 truck. The front fenders,splach and running board are new. The back fendres are old(from Hershey some year ago) In the back, my American Monarc lathe.The lathe come as a part of the Marchall help after WW2. This is one of six who come to Norway in 1952. Hi Arvid, Great project, nice shop, now I know where I had seen your truck before, I found your website while searching for Chevrolet '20 ties info, very nice, now I'm jealous, a '26, a '29 and a beautiful '32. You're right you are 25 years ahead of me. You write, new fenders that is old fenders new for the truck or is there someone making fenders? My trouble is now that I keep finding oldies around here; I might end up with a whole fleet of '20 and '30 trucks and cars. I'll better win the lotto soon. Great Mercedes too, I'll have to come and visit you soon. No I missed my chance, I was in Norway in '93 and '98 and I probably will not be able to come back to Europe any time soon. I love the country, you should only train the moose's and reindeer a bit, so they wont scare the tourists. We went to the Nordkap and had a lot of fun with the animals crossing. Thanks for the pictures, I saved them. May your bolts always come loose without braking and you sheet metal be bent back without stretching. Richard

Hello Richard. Thank you for reply. I buy my first Chevrolet (1928) in 1974. I am 60 next year.(I cant't believe it) The front fenders are new made in Norway.But the bodybilder do not make them any more.The are some error on the link above. I can't open it.I like to see your fender!If you come to Norway,pleace tell me.Are you member of the 4 syl car club in Canada? They help me to buy a radiator shell for my -25 truck. Bolts come loose without braking ? Yes an no.Heating are the best way if the bolt are impossible to go out. Sheet metal most stretch and shrink. Sorry my english. It's not good. Next step for my -25 truck prosjekt are painting the sheet metall. I like to do this outside the house, but temperature are to low for the moment. Regards Arvid

Hi Arvid, Nice to talk to you too, we should switch to email I guess than we don't bore the rest of the group with our '25/'26 fixation :) The Link is ok, just the last [,] should be deleted, my fault, I'm sorry. Your English is fine, better that my Norwegian was on my trips there, the only thing I can remember is Jor-beren or something like that at the side of the road and when you pull over they have the best strawberry's I ever ate. No I'm not a member of anything yet, there are too many and I'm too new to this. Coming to Norway is out of the question until I have my Canadian citizenship papers, which might take a while. I'll be 52 next month so I might still catch up with your '25 project. I'm off after a troublesome morning to take pictures of other trucks I ran in to yesterday, I'll keep you posted. They'll be on my site too later this evening and for you early in the morning I know we differ nine hours.

Hi there, Seeing Arvid's start position, I'll have to finish mine, he did a #@!! of a job. No my shop isn't heated, insulated or has a concrete floor, Arvid has a nice setup though, I might have to move back to Norway :) . I'll manage, short half hour bursts and taking back to the house what ever is portable and can be cleaned inside. I might even move the whole engine in to the basement for winter fun! I'll keep your guys posted here and the pictures on the website. And yes I'm going to need a whole lot of help to keep this machine close to original.

Richard, I was thinking about getting Arvid to adopt Me for a couple of years, so I could learn some of his fine skills!...Maybe he would let me ride in the sidecar of his Harley...

if you were to take the harley to texas drive by canada first - I don't mind riding in the snow. I had to part with my 1920 h-d with a chair before resto was done ( some one with money I needed came first) so I did not get the wind in my hair experience, and my 1914 excelsior single belt drive is on a back burner

Ok MRMack, We'll chat here, but then it's time for your Norwegian lesson #1 JORDBÆR means strawberry, and don't try to bent your keyboard to get that A to lean to the E, it won't work. We'll have to ask Arvid to teach us the rest of the lessons, because I didn't pick up too many words while I was there, almost everybody speaks English and then there is no need to learn a different language. It's a beautiful country with miles and miles of untouched nature, just like the Northern part of Alberta. Only they maintain their roads much better. It comes with lots of deer, reindeer and moose's that only want to cross in front of your vehicle. Maximum speed on those nice roads is a 100km an hour, which is way too fast for those well trained animals and to see the unique scenery. Clearwater lakes where you can see the bottom at 40 feet or more, waterfalls, so many that it gets boring after a day or two. If you ever get a chance to go there, don't hesitate; it's worth any trouble. And as I have learnt lately, they have some very good mechanics and vintage vehicles there that should make an interesting trip. The beer is good there, food is better, people are friendly and take the time to talk/explain/help, at least those are my experiences. I didn't visit any of the major cities, because they all look alike to me. The best place for a night out, I found, is the “Pilot Bar” in Fagerness, great food, great hospitality, very nice girls, but I'm married now:), and they don't close until you want to go home. And when a hangover tries to keep you down the next day, try a Sauna, the Norwegian way, it works wonders on body and mind. Norway and the Lake District in the UK are the only places I miss since I came to Canada. One important tip, if there is a gas station, fill it up, the next one might be 300 miles further down the road. Have fun and start planning your holiday in Norway for next year.

I once had a encounter of the first type with a Norweigian, He was a mechanic for the company I retired from in 1997, He and I hit it off very well, However I didn't get to learn so much about Norway, or their official language, it seems that they readily go into English, an the drop of a shoe, I learned little about the country except for their relations with Sweden, and Finland, during the Big War, something about the Finns throwing dynamite across the border, then the Norweigians lighting the fuses and throwing the dynamite back to the Finns???? and some good info on being a truck mechanic.....
I hope when the good fairy sends my LOTTO check I can tour Europe in one of my old Chevys.....
