Hello again!
My 28 National Touring needs new tyres so I have removed the detachable split rims.
I noticed that the front rims are only 2.5" wide at the base when they should be 3". This means the valve is slightly out of line with the hole on the disk wheel.
Can anyone see a problem with drilling out the wheel so the hole is wider, allowing the valve enough space?

Also, what torque should the rim retainer bolts be tightened to? Some of mine are bent, probably over-tightened.

Thanks for your help.
- Stephen.

You are operating a very dangerous vehicle. Do NOT attempt to operate with the 2 1/2 inch rims, UNLESS SOMEONE HAS REPLACED THE DISC WITH EARLIER WHEELS.

If you have the proper disc wheels on the front and attempt to use the 2 1/2 inch rim you will find the lugs will not tighten and hold the rim. That is probably why you have bent lug bolts and tightening problems.

Do not operate until you have found and mounted two of the 3 inch 1928 rims.

Would the disc wheel rim be the same as my wood wheel rims?
We both need rims.
