I read the other thread where Mr Mack described the vacuum tubing on the wiper motor as 1/4 coming from the vacuum tank to the control and 1/8 going from the control to the wiper motor. What I need to know is how long the tubing needs to be (mine is missing).

Thanks for the help

The copper tubing is fairly flexible. You can measure the distance needed and allow a bit extra. The excess can be cut off after you have run the tubing. I assume you are working on a closed car and if so start at the wiper and run the tubing down to the control switch on the dash. From the control to the top of the vacuum tank can be measured easily.

Hey Ray are you sure that the original tubing is copper? I would submit that it was brass. If the vac. tank to carburetor and vac. tank to manifold were brass wouldn't the vac. tank to wiper switch also be brass? Did I stir the pot on this one?

The composition of the tubing was not the main subject. The question was in relation to length.

As to brass, copper or seamed steel.......the jury is still out.

Well, mine is copper because that is what I bought from NAPA!

The original wiper control valve is quite well engineered, as it will park the wiper when turned to the off position.

I also question that 1/8" tubing is large enough to operate the wiper motor properly, but that is the size that was already plumbed from where the wiper motor mounts past the windshield and down to the control valve under the dash.
