Ok fine Chevy folks, I need some help for my Dad. He needs to know: How do you remove the Cam gear (Fiber gear) from the Cam while it is still in the egine? It's a 1928 engine. He has a new replacement gear and he needs to replace the cam shaft as well.

chevy Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi Touring Darla,

Although it can be done it is strongly recommended to do the job correctly. If you have not purchased a reprinted Owners Manual and Repair Manual, do so before you start your project.

Unfortunately many of the pictures have been removed but it would also be helpful to go to Tech Talk and follow the thread on School is in Session where a step by step procedure with pictures was presented.

The long and the short of it that the cam needs to be removed from the engine to inspect for the need to regrind and to replace the cam gear.

In the thread School is in Session note is made of mis and unmarked cam gears.
