I'm looking for recommendations re: Restoration literature for 1928 Chevrolet 2-door coach. I've ordered reprint owners manual, service manual and Fisher body manual. What other books, etc have others found to be helpful?

...Don't forget to join VCCA and start receiving The G&D magazine Many Restorers of old Chevrolets join just to get the classified ads for parts and the good stories even though some of us get it a week or so late.
But all in all I would say that there is more good information on the 1928 Chevrolets passed around right here on VCCA Chat per capita than any where else on the planet...Right Guys?
That is my story and I'm sticking to it!

I would add the 1928 reprinted parts book. It contains some illustrations that might help identify parts. It provides information on what years and models a part fits so you will be able put together an interchange list. And it lists many of the screws and bolts and the finish on some of them so you will know what they are.

My VCCA membership application is literally in the mailbox as I write!
I will look for the '28 parts book and Service News. Thanks.
After reading another post, I called Chevrolet Assistance Center and they are sending me a Restoration Kit with data on the car, options, etc.
This site connecting me with all of you has been extremely helpful in gaining information, advice and insite unbelievably quickly. Thanks.

Another member asked about the Chevrolet Assistance Center. I got the idea from the 1929-32 forum. The topic was Wood Frame Dimensions. It said you could call Chevrolet Customer Assistance 800-222-1020 and get specs for your vehicle at no cost. I called them. You have to wait for the prompt to talk to customer assistance. I gave them the year, and my serial number from the tag nailed to the floor next to the passenger side door. (My number begins with 1AB.......) They put me on hold for a long time, but were able to find the data. Said it would take a few weeks to receive it. Should include an illustration, also data such as colors, options, engine specs, tire specs, etc. Ron

Everytime I called them they told me it would take several weeks and it only took about one. Guess they believe that customer service should always deliver faster than expected. Maybe GM will get the idea that customers count? Naw, even going from 50% to 25-30% market share did not seem to do it. And the information that they send out can be very helpful.

Two of the items you will receive are a copy of the "Engineering Information" and a list of vendors that sell Chevrolet parts. If you get a good clean COPY of the EI it will give you a world of information. The vendor list may help as it will probably be out-dated. Well worth the effort to make the call.

I purchased a copy of a reprint 1928 Chevrolet owners manual. I believe there should be a Figure #14 Lubrication Chart in the center of the book. Am I correct? (One was not included in my book and the company representative is now asking for more information.) Thanks, Ron

You are correct. There should be a Lube Chart in the center of the book. If you are still having a problem with the Filling Station, send me an email and I will help.

Ray, Thanks. I will talk to them again tomorrow with the book in hand and with your confirmation of where the chart should be located in the book. Ron

They indicate that they called the company that supplies the reprint '28 owners manual and they do not print the chart. Have others had the same experience? They do correctly point out that the lube info is included in the shop Repair Manual.
