I'm considering turning my chassis into a speedster. The car is currently a touring needing a full restoration(I mean full!) Anyway, does anyone know or have photos of a car originally having been used for racing in the early 20's? Thanks, Ron

Hi Babe,
Straman Auto Restoration in Costa Mesa, CA did a beautiful boat-tail speedster on an early Rolls Royce chassis many years ago but, I was politely told that They " Don't do Chevrolets ". Besides I did not have the 100 Grand start up deposit. Anyway I still have my 24 Touring and after making two wood body frames for roadsters ( One is even running and was definitely a full restoration ) I still would say restore the touring.

Thanks for getting back to me Herb. Always wanted a speedster of sorts and thought this might be the right car to go with. You see T speedsters everywhere. Wonder if any of the wood kits for the T would fit the Grand? Also, wonder what type of add on accessories were available in the 20's to increase horsepower.

For a handmade boattail body, go look at Speedsters Inc. PO Box 84 in Oak Grove Mo. 64075 (816)690-8464 or on net at speedstersfab@earthlink.net He makes bodies to order and I am sure he would make a similar body to fit a chevy frame. I have his flyer and have seen several pics in Secrets of Speed magazine for Fords.
