Hi Dan,
I see your question also in the 33-36 group which sounds like the place to ask it; however some clarification might be helpful.
1. The only shocks offered for the 4 cylinder I believe were the Houdaille type ( For 1928 ) that Henry "Whats His Face" used in his Foords up until about 1948.
2. It sounds like you are referring to the lever action type of shock used on the straight axle Chev's from 29 until about 38. The $400 plus price quoted in the 33-36 Group discussion sounds more like the knee action units used on 36-38 deluxe models.
3. Long time member Dick Dennis VCCA #09007 provided a rebuilding service for the 36-38 knee action for many years, but I believe he sold that to a company in Santa Ana, CA sometime in the 90's.

Hi jwp,

Should you have them on your 1928. YES, however they are not a stock/standard item for your car. They are aftermarket items.

Raymound are you saying that some old codgers actually DRIVE them old 1928 Chevrolets on bumpy roads?.... If you can't find some of those shock absorbers I bet you could just use another soft fluffy blanket on the seat!

I'll reply to your knee action shocks in the 34-36 section, but for all you 4 cyl lovers, I have 3 different after market brand shocks that were used on Chev 4's in Aus.
The most common variety were a brand called "Snubber", of which I have a full set. I also have a couple of "Gabriel"
They were basically a tin can with a strap and spring, the tin can bolted to the chassis and a bracket/clamp clamped to the I beam axle, they operated via a canvas strap similar to what was used on the 29's but on the 4's it recoiled inside the tin can when the car hit a bump
