Hi Mr Page,

Go take a look at this discussion that was conducted earlier in another thread. Steering column lock 1927/28
Follow it all the way to the bottom of the page. This should give you a good idea how to solve your problem.

Hi Derek, ( and any others with an interest in the 1927-28 steering lock ).

Before you read any further, you should go back to my last posting, follow the link to the full discussion and pictures of the 1927-28 steering lock. After you have familiarized yourself with the base problem, then return to this thread.

As you note dereck, has requested help in obtaining a key for his 1927. I passed his request along to the most qualified Chevrolet locksmith, “ Jarvis ” in Alderwood Manor, WA. ( Check him out in the “ Services Offered by Members “ in the back section of the G&D ).

As a result of working on some of my projects, Jarvis sent me the following sheet on the lock problem. With the instructions in this sheet and the information in my prior thread, you should have more information about the key problem than you can stand.

Ray et al

About 5 years ago I sent my 1928 steering lock assembly to Jesser Keys. it was in the "unlocked" position and I had no keys for it. From your description above, it is a Chicago lock. The keys are double sided. They were able to make me a set of keys for the lock! Don't know how they did it, just that they did it. Just my $.02

Ray,

From the information you supplied it would appear that the lock I have is a chicago brand. I have tried a number of locksmiths here in Australia but have had no sucess in getting a key cut, as none of them have try out keys. As you have suggested I have emailed Jarvis to see if he can help.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Hi Derek,

I will see Jarvis before your lock ever gets to him and will discuss your problem. I'm sure he can solve it for you.
