Huffneff, that looks like the right way to install a hot water heater, first one I have actually seen on a 28, I am sure there were many that were modified like this one during the late 30s and 40s. I wonder if a restrictor plate is needed above the inlet to the heater hose connection on the upper radiator hose to the heater?

I WOULD THINK SOMETHING WOULD HAVE TO BE INSTALLED TO CAUSE THE WATER TO GO WHERE YOU WANT IT INSTEAD OF THROUGH THE RADIATOR. ALSO I WOULD THINK ONE WOULD NEED A VALVE TO SHUT THAT CRITTER OFF IN JULY

my 53 heater just comes off the waterpumpI think one could drill the theomostat housing and tap it for a 1/2 or 3/4 pipe and put a shutoff valve on before the hose nipple. I wonder why Chevrolet didn't make a good looking heater like this one: ![[Linked Image from i4.ebayimg.com]](http://i4.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/03/c7/5e_0.JPG)

This is likewise the first hot water set up I've seen on a four but as I recall on late 30's and 40's ( mostly aftermarket ) I think the line to the heater was upstream of the thermostat so the natural flow was first through the heater core. Herb

Why would anyone want a hot water heater? My hot water has always been hot enough.
