just bought a tail light for the 26 it seems to be missing a cross bar inside to hold the brake light bulb how was this peice attached to the body of the light ? also it has a celluloid lens is this the original or replacement if any one has any good pictures there 26 chevy trucks please send to ky4x4mn@yahoo.com i need to build a new bed for the 26 and am looking for some good ideas it now has a grain bed thanks guys

The crossbar that you refer too is actually a horizontal piece of sheet metal that carries the stop light bulb and divides the stop lamp and tail lamp sections of the housing assembly. The divider has a turned flange on the forward edge that attaches to the lamp housing at one of the two permanent mounting studs. The rear edge of the divider has a small turned flange at each corner that are used to secure the lamp lens and lens retainer ring. A celluloid lens was original equipment, but without seeing the one you have It's dificult to tell if yours is original or aftermarket.

Oldie, what year did Chevrolet add a brake lamp to the rear tailight? could it be that he has an earlier lamp housing?

The dual tail-light (STOP and license light/tail light) was first introduced in late 1925.

oldie thans so much for the info i think i know enough now to make the peice i need to restore the light i only have one mounting stud on my light
