Well, I finally found the original rims from my car under a pile of junk at my parents' home. Unfortunately, after spending the last 50 years outdoors they are pretty much unusable. :( So, I guess I will have to try a locate more. This is not a want-ad but merely a request for specific information. They are made to accept 30 x 3 1/2 tires. The lugs are each marked HS and the lug nearest the valve stem hole is "forked" or open at the bottom (presumably to make it easier to hang it on the wheel.) What do I have? Does anyone make repros? Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Tom. This won't be of much help, but I can tell you that it took me 2 years to accumulate a barely usable set of 19" demountable rims for my '31 1/2 ton. I'd still take a few more rims if I could bear to spend even more money on the quest. The other parts and hardware were easier to find.

I doubt you'll find anyone that makes reproductions, as I think I would have bumped into them by now. I found a wrecking yard that had a set of 21" rims (Nate Horst was looking for them). The yard wanted an outrageous price for them, so Nate passed them by and I suspect they still have them.

Have you thought about checking with the Reynolds Museum? It seems like they have a lot of stuff!

Tom: Many cars used a 30x3 1/2 rim. I don't have you car to check what rim will fit but an earlier restoration of a Star with 30x3 1/2 wheel I was able to take a Model T rim and redrill the valve stem hole and make it work. Just a thought.

Hello Tom, My 23 Superior and my 25 T use the same
rims. No mods.

Thanks for all your replies. I have found an outfit that maked repro rims for Model T's. I think I'll ask them if they could make a set with the valve hole in a different position. In the meantime, does anyone know what the HS marking on my rims stands for?

Tom:
When I did my Star Rims I just brazed the old hole and then redirlled the rim and camphered the new hole so it would not cut the stem. It has worked for ten years.

At what reference are you measuring the rims/wheels? I ask this as I have a pair of wood spoke wheels, they have seen some weather, but still seem sound. I know what a "real steal" price is for these, but what is a reasonable ballpark if these happen to be the correct size for you?
