I am now unemployed and looking for a job... How does it go? When you have money, you have no time, when you have time, you have no money... I am going to attempt to put together on a duct tape and bailing wire my fathers 1926 Coach. The wood is mostly there in the body but the roof sections are completely missing. Can anyone advise me or assist me in figuring this part out? Thanks, Ken

Hello Teddy: if it is something that you will enjoy and find yourself filling your time, why would it matter at all? just do what you think you would like! that work's for me! maybe you finish it, maybe you dont, anyway you look at it, it is a labor of love, that you can pass down someday and feel good about it! chevy

There is so much in a restoration that you can do with your own two hands that costs little or no money. Enjoy the feeling of accomplishment while you search for that new job. Remember what someone wise once said about "...all work and no play..."

This is a test to see if this message gets posted to the existing thread. Tom Chaney posted a message at 15:42 today and though it is listed on the home page, it does not show up as part of the thread on my computer. yipp laugh

Maybe teddybearpa can apply a little of that duct tape and bailing wire to the chat server!? Thanks, JYD for getting on the "glitch" so fast. I remember well something the salesman told me when I bought my very first computer..."Sometimes, they just wander off."

Hi Ken,
It looks like you are about a couple of hundred miles up the road from the fabled "Junkyard Dog of the Northwest". Why don't you see if his puppies can scour the countryside and come up with some sample pieces of that top wood that you can copy ??
Good Luck,

Better yet Ken, you can check with Jim Rodman of Auto Wood Restoration in Hanna, Indiana to see if he has the wood pieces available for what you need? laugh laugh laugh laugh

Ken, you may well be crazy!!!!! but who cares sounds like a great project with alot of family history. Great car to pass down to the kids if it is done or something they can also continue to work on.

Happy Restoration

Thanks for all the encouragement... I'll keep busy 'out of the house' with the car if time allows. I've talked with Rodman but I don't have the free funds so if anyone has any patterns I could use, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks, Ken

Also, if anyone knows of any AS/400 programmer positions or contracts, keep me in mind.
