Mr Mack ,did you try a couple drops of Marvel Mystery Oil in the inlet tube and let it run down around the paddles ,the old lube dries out and they slow down .It helps the one on my A ,and if it dosent it will make the old Chev smell good.

Some model As used a 6 volt motor. It will bolt up to the bracket on most '28 models. An authentic wiper motor can be made by putting pieces of a couple of motors together. The important piece is the bottom part with the ears.

HeyWoody, yes by the way I did and maybe I just need to use more of the MMO!....I am about to decide that the worn out motor and thetiny cooper tubing and small rubber hose may not allow for enough volume of vacuum (if there is such a thing), maybe I should say air flow in a negative pressure direction! I would hook up a electric motor but it may go around and around rather than swish-- swash

Mr Mack they only work going down hill whrn they are new . I put a new one on my A in 1970 and it was nothing to brag about then .MMO keeps it going but i use Rain X when it may rain.and my wiper works good. The electric wipers for A s are very rare in our area as they were made out of a very poor pot metal and they crumbled up and fell off the cars they were on .that is no joke ,but a fact. not one of henrys better ideas.

Hi Gentleman
First I assume that the correct vacumn motor fo a 28 would be a Trico unit. About five years ago I found a vendor at Hershey who rebuilt my wiper motor. If there is a vendor out there who rebuilds them I would bet he has a few on hand. I cannot for the life of me remember his name but the notion of them being nonexistant is hard to believe. I know I have an extra one in my extra parts pile.(which is not for sale!) Mine works fine and especially at low speed when intake vacum is at its highest. Good luck

I had the wiper motor rebuilt on my '33 not too long ago, and then I ran into the guy at Hershey last month, too. His name is Ficken, he is in New York. He is THE "Wiperman." I'm sure that's who you're thinking of mromano. Now, the wiper runs great, even uphill, although obviously it slows down. But it DOES keep wiping. I can't even run it at full speed on level ground - too fast! HOWEVER, if the housing is busted or warped, he can't rebuild it. I think he has inventory, but not sure as mine was OK. Ficken Wiper Service 631-587-3332 132 Calvert Ave. West Babylon, NY 11704 Or: www.wiperman.com Mine was $69, and came with a 3 year warranty. Few weeks on turn-around. To give credit where due, this guy was originally recommended to me by Ray "AntiqueMechanic".

Ray, That is what I have been looking for , I am useing a model A motor that is simular with the exception that it has a slide control valve mounted on the motor and the inlet and the heart shaped snap on cover is identical with your picture. Please clarify one thing. Is the vacuum inlet always toward the inside of the windshield? I have seen them pointing toward the outside. this would necessatate turning this motor "upside down" right? Also aproximately how low should the motor be mounted. Should it stick below the glass or should it be almost within a 1/2 inch of the sunvisor? The arm attachment shaft should be where in relation to the top edge of the glass? Thanks.

MrMack,
The closed car wiper motor mounting (1927/8) is with the flat surface of the unit facing downward. Just as shown in the lower of the two above pictures. I know it looks like it should be the other way.

Ray, that is the way I mounted the Model A motor on my car, the vacuum inlet is next to the copper tubing from the control valve that way, but I turned the mounting bracket to where the top single mounting hole is the highest ( the hole were already drilled in the metal header bar cover, and the motor clears the sun visor by about 1/4 of an inch, that put the wiper arm and blade in the correct position. ( that is the way Chip said to mount it) Thanks.
