I have what's known as a "Carson Hood" or American Hardtop. Has anyone seen any pictures of how to design side curtains for these hoods?

Hi Casper,
The "Carson Tops" I recall were custom built by Glen G. Houser at Carson Top Shop, 4910 S. Vermont, L.A., CA during the 1940's and 50's for 1939-52 Ford and Mercury Convertibles and therefore had roll up windows. They were very popular and I expect were also built for Chevrolet and other makes. The name became a generic name like Coca Cola and many street rods still have them.

casper, Is the hood (top) you are referring to like a bolt on hard top that was installed for winter use ?

Yes, the hood is a bolt on hood which, while not original, does not look to bad.

I was looking for an idea of how to fit side curtains but if it is not practiclal, I'll go back to the soft top.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

casper,I found some pictures of What refered to them at that time as
California tops.I see two names mentioned,Detroit Weatherproof and Rex California tops. There must have been several manufactors. One picture shows with side curtains in place,Its a poor picture but it shows a cutout for the windows with canvas border around and some snaps .Can't determine how it was attached on top of window as snaps can't be seen there.
