Caution, this could cause damage to your engine! should a piece of carbon become wedged under a valve head! but one of the Guys on here recently said " use a small soda bottle" or a ozarka bottle such as you drink from with a small opening , with the air cleaner removed and the engine running at a medium throttle slowly tilt the bottle of water over the carb intake, whilst holding your finger over the bottle opening, and let a small amount be sucked down the intake from the vacuum there. Don't let the engine choke plumb down but do it the same way you would fog the engine with marvel mystery oil. When the engine chokes down and coughs let up on the water flow till the engine picks up rpms and go at it again! several times should do it!, no more than one bottle full should be enough the water will turn to steam and it is supposed to knock the carbon loose and send it out the tailpipe. I do not endorse this procedure! do it at your own risk! I would do it if fogging with Marvel mystery oil didn't work first.

John, I agree with Mr Mack, I would not recommend using that method and if you do try it use an old set of spark plugs. I had done that many times until I ran into a problem with it. I had just tuned up a car and it was pinging and everything was set properly, dwell, timing etc. I gave it the water treatment and then drove the car, putting it through the paces and when I got back to the shop it stalled and would not start The bad thing about the whole thing it was a customers car. At that point it was pannick city. Luckily the only damage was the new set of spark plugs. You can imagine what the valves looked like.  Marvel Mystery oil is an additive that is added to the fuel and oil and when added to the fuel it was to keep the top of the cylinders and valves lubricated and in my opinion it does help. It is great stuff, in fact I use to add it to my fuel on my Aircraft when I fueled it up. Hope this helps, but again like Mr Mack stated use caution if you go ahead with the water

Watch the water trick, I lost all the exhaust valves in a realtively new car when water in the fuel tank displaced gasoline and hit a hot set of valves. 4 cylinder engine 3 exhaust valves or seats damaged by carbon chunks. This is actually a much longer story but this was the result. Marvel Mystery Oil, or MM for short. Marvel Mystery oil is either another urban legend or the best stuff to come down the pike. I use it instead of any form of liquid lead in my 52, had a MM injector on my 38 chev. I pulled the injector and sold it to a rural mail man in 1951, in 19 55 the last time I saw him he was still using it and claimed it was the best thing that ever happened to his car. My wife likes to rub a little on her ear lobes and troll at swap meets but says she only gets responses from old F**** like me!

Glynn, I am glad my wife don't read this page, she doesn't know what the good smell is that I have on me when I come in from the shop, she thinks it is a new kind of cologne!

Another danger in using water is if you feed it too fast it may bend a connecting rod. This is because water will not compress or burn.I see modern cars that injest water when driving thru high water.the water enters thru the air in take causing hydralic lock ...bending a conn. rod. This a probably eaiser with todays smaller combustion chambers.I pour MMO thru the carb. with engine running at fast idle..drowned it out and let it "soak" over night.

Yes MRMACK,My neighbors love it too when it blows into their open windows or when I take off down the street and leave a smoke screen. If it isn"t available "down under" there may be another such product you can find or even automatic trans. will do te job>>>it just will not have that nice smell.
