Hi all you 4-cyl experts. So what is the solution to a loose crank pulley?

Thanks!

Some people centrepunch the crank to attempt to increase its diameter. This is only temporary and will eventually loosen again. Is the crank worn or the pulley. If the crank, machine and sleeve, or build up by welding then machine down. Or machine down the crank then sleeve pulley to suit new crank size. If wear is tiny, centrepunching and highend Loctite may be OK. If problem is only pulley, machine out and sleeve. If problem is crank usually necessitates crank removal from engine.

Try locktite 635 retains parts up to 10thou gap.
high strength/high shear, make sure both parts are cleaned thoroughly. Failing that remove the crank and hard chrome the journal to size.

I agree totally with ozjim, I used his recommended treatment many years ago on my 27 tourer and did many trouble free miles over quite a few years, until sold the car
