I have a WA. state title on my 27, and it is registered by the engine no. The owners manual for my 30 says there is a no. on the door sill plate, but I never found it. It had an Iowa title and they assigned a no and a sticker on the door jam. Dale

I believe that the VIN number plate is on the passenger side main sill, facing the door just forward of the seat, under the floor mat. The plate is attached with small nails, and because of this, it is usually missing. :(

The Owners Manual for the National AB models says the plate is on the right front seat frame on the touring, roadster, landau, sedan and coupe. On the coach it will be found on the right sill under the carpet. On the touring chassis, one-half ton chassis and One Ton Truck, it will be found on the dash. The Fisher Built Cars also have a tag on the left firewall ( body info only ) but Chevrolet Built Cars only have the holes. I've posted a photo of a typical installation, click on - www.cybersurfers.net/~herb/28tag.htm the picture's too big but it's the only way you can read the tag. Herb

Hey krnut When I got home last nite I went out and checked my 27. It has a 2x3 plate on the seat frame on the right side. By frame I mean the small box on the floor that the bottom cushion fits into. It says Model Capitol Ser no 6AA6496 Then I have the fisher plate on the firewall and the eng no on the block. Dale

Herb, you got a picture of a 29 vin plate???? I sure would like to see it if you do. The entire right hand sill on my 29 Coach was missing when I got it and I haven't been able to find one yet. :( :(

Redracer3d - Ref: 6AA6496 You may already know or not give a rip but you '27 was assembled in Oakland, California late in January of 1927. First unit assembled in Oakland in January was serial number 2223, first unit assembled in February was 6837.

I agree on Oakland in January of 27. My father wrote to GM in 1954 and they sent him that same information. I think it was the 29th. Thanks. Dale

Hi Kirk, I don't have a 29 Plate but I hear Tom Meleo is taking his brand new restored 29 4 Door to the All Cal next month. I took some pictures of it in December and it's really perfect. I just sent in my check this week so I hope to see you there. Herb

I'll also be at the All-Cal Meet. Will be nice to put a name with all these faces on the forum. (Or is it the other way around?)
