Krnut, Faxon sells a manual on the body wood work, a reprint of the 28,29, and 30 Chevrolet Body Manual. They usually have some on E-bay auctions.
My Chevrolet Repair Manual, Chevrolet Capitol and National Cars Series AA-AB 1927 - 1928 Chevrolet Motor Company Division of General Motors Corporation (a Reprint) also has a chapter "Closed Body Service Instructions" that has some good info. on these bodys.

Krnut, if it is one of the front hinge post it may take some work to get the old wood out an the new in. If the wood is just gotten soft you may be able to stablize it with some rot cure it is a resin type filler that soaks into the wood fibers and will make the post solid. It can be sanded an drilled just like wood. Other wise you may have to remove the windshield header and the dash to allow you to remove the entire hinge post. And replace it with a new piece. Complete kits and single pieces are avail from Jim Rodman at Rodman's Auto Wood Restrorations in Box 86 Hanna, Indiana 46340. Ph# 219-797-3775 they are very helpful.

Hi Krnut, I hav remade and replaced much of the wood on my 26 coach. I am not sure of diffs between 26 and 28, but as 29chev said, you will have to remove dash and cut tenons between door pillar and windsheild lower cross bar. There is a bolt going down through the roof rail and into the front pillar, this bolt is hard to work with unless the roof corner is pulled back. The Fisher Body service manual was a great help in my project. I got mine through the Filling Station Good Luck Krnut. Keep Em Rolling :)

Hi Krnut - Voss Motors - www.booksforcars.com - also sells the Fisher Body Manual 26-31 for $18.95. Leave model blank when searching.
