Hey all you '27 restorers out there, I'm trying to update my list of modern matches for '27 original colors. Most of my "modern" matches are from the '60s. If you have found a good to excellent match for any of the original colors let me know (I already have a match for black!! he,he). Thanks for any help you can give.

I just noticed your posting... Do you have a match for the engine color. One that is closer to what it should be and not like the one that a major paint supplier sells.

Chevy 4 banger engine paint color has been a tough nut to crack since there seems to be a slight variation of color from casting plant to casting plant and from year to year. Your right, the main paint suppliers version is not very close. I do not have an exact modern color match. The closest I've seen for '27-'28 would probably be called "light olive drab". It's not a very pretty color!
Anyone else out there Have a good color match they can share (from an original engine please).

After years of frustration something was finally done about the 4-cylinder paint color. Contact the Filling Station for your requirement. A project we just finished. laugh

Did the filling station break down the colors for the different years?

For the '23's the color match I have seen and heard of is that of "Ohio Bell Green". This is the color that they used to use on their trucks. It does closly match the original paint found on a spare engine I have.

We only did the color for the 4-banger. The V-8 is different. For years we have said that the color was near SW Bell Telephone trucks. Or it has also been described as Olive Drab US Army. cool wink
