I'll be replacing the windshield glass in a 1934 Master soon, using the directions in the 1934 repair manual. Does anyone have any additional tips on the procedure?

I followed the shop manual and all went well.
Would suggest using the proper 3M sealer to prevent leaks.Would need to look up the number for proper type.

Hi Gene. I'm going to be doing the same thing on my 39. So, if I understand correctly, I wouldn't use the same sealer on the windshield and rear window rubbers as I would on the vent window rubber? Do you run a bead in the rubber channel where it contacts the glass?
I was going to use either 3M 80011 or 80001. One, if not both, are black in color.

Yes, both the glass to rubber and the rubber to body gets the sealer.
What are the sealers listed for???I don't have a 3M catalog at home. Can look it up next week if necessary.
When removing and installing the windshield the side cloth strip must be removed. There are like extended rivets under it going into the corner post....you need all the room you can get to get past this point when removing or installing the glass.Once you get the old glass out you will see what I am refering to.The rivet heads are OK but the windlace like strip gets in the way.To remove the glass push on the area of the glass next to the outter post, it will swing to the inside - disengage it from the center divider after it clears the corner post.

Here is a trick that my dad showed me. I don't know if it applies here with the 34, but we used it on our 36 rear window. Using a 1 in. putty knife, fold over a heavy fishing line on the knife and work it under the glass from the inside. Have a helper grab hold of the end of the line from the outside and then work the line all around the glass until it is free. We used a soapy solution to re-install the glass and new rubber. It worked for us!
