I'm getting ready to order a new interior kit for my 32 Sport Coupe.
My seat now has the buttons only on the seat and back portion and not the lower front of the seat. My research shows this as a standard seat.
The door trim however has the "double stitch" embossed "square" BUT, the top segment is straight across without the "V" dip at the center.
I know the Sport Coupe is a combination of Deluxe and Standard, however Hampton Coach does not offer the "double stitch version" like my original. They do offer the standard seat which is OK.
I was just wondering if anyone else found these differances when ordering from Hampton. And if so, what did you opt for? I've seen 32 Stp Cpes with both.

What is the trim number on your cowl tag??

Also, your front seat is how it is supposed to be....there are no buttons on the lower vertical portion of the seat, only on the seat cushion and the back rest.

The double stitched "square" on your door panels is correct, and the "square" is straight across at the top. Hampton Coach is not the same company that it was since it was purchased by LeBaron Bonney, and they don't offer as many upholstery variations as they did previously. :( :( :(

JYD, thanks for asking!

Job No. 32558
Body No. T-679
Trim No. 17
Paint No. 105

I haven't talked to Hampton yet, but I've seen Spt Cpe's with the double stitching staight across. There's one on e-bay right now. Hampton does ask for the job # and may be they will send what I need. I guess they groupe the rumble seat and trunk cars together when you get the fabric samples and order forms. The order form also says "for 31 and 32"...maybe that's the problem.
Just the same, I'm going to call them and see what they say. If they can't make the change I'll need to find another interior supplier. Know any????
Thanks.
Ray

Trim number 17 indicates that you have the correct interior for your sport coupe. There was a double stitching on the door panels and the stitching was straight across at the top of the door panel. Also, your front seat had no buttons on the lower vertical section of the seat cushion, and it never did. Your interior color was Taupe (sort of a tan color).

If Hampton Coach doesn't have the correct stuff (and I doubt it) then you can purchase the mohair by the yard and then have a local upholstery shop do the interior for you using your old interior pieces as a pattern.

I see that your car was originally painted black according to your paint number. Cool!

Thanks for responding JYD.
Yes, I love that black and chrome! My car had yellow wheels and red striping. I'm currently waiting on Jim Rodmans replacement wood for the rumble area. It should arrive soon.
As for the interior, I will research it some more.

Ya, I like black '32's and you don't see many of them anymore since many dudes change the color to Maroon (I hate that color). According to the paint specs. your striping should be Cream Medium, and you could have either Cream Medium wire wheels or Black wire wheels. :cool2: laugh laugh laugh

Yes, JYD, the wheels are Cream Medium. It just looks yellow. mmmmm... It's a F*RD Truck color, 67-70 (Empire Yellow acme #5676). I used the only match by Wayne G. Martin which was a "fair" match. I found my wheels are yellow (cream) when I took the old mud tires off.
You are right about the stripe. Don't know were I got red. (wishfull thinking?) I'm a long way from that anyway.
After looking at Gator's find today, I noticed that that "v" on the Deluxe is realy a dip.
---___--- and it's located ABOVE the handles, not BELOW like my car.
Ain't this a great hobby?

Trim code #17 (which is used in your sport coupe) has the double stitching below the handles, and it is straight across the top, no dip. laugh laugh laugh laugh

Thanks JYD.

I still have most of the pieces. Only they are in very bad shape. I removed them carfully so the patterns show very well. I am going to offer some pictures to Hampton and see if they can reproduce the correct patern for a 32 Spt Cpe. Let's see what they say. I'd like everyone to have the opportunity to get what they need to make the cars correct. YA!

Hi RGwiz-If you are still looking for an upholsterer may I suggest Davidsen Auto Interiors-the owner is a former employee of Hampton Coach as are others that work with him.He can be reached by phone at 603-926-3269.His shop was recently relocated to Hampton Falls,N.H.I have seen his work personally and was very impressed with his expertise and knowledge.I was at his shop when he was doing a 30's Cadillac from the old patterns and matching it stitch for stitch.Call and ask for Petter(Peter)Davidsen.I think you will be as impressed as I was.
