This is my first post. I've been reading threads here for some time, but now I'm in the weeds, so I paid my dues and am looking for help. I'm restoring a 37 Master. I replaced the dead 216 with a 235 and most everything has gone well, but I can't disengage the clutch. The 235 I found had a bell housing and clutch with it. The flywheel was a more recent version which takes the 6 bolt, 11 1/2 inch across clutch. It had a 6 volt ring gear on it, so I decided to use that combination. I bought a new 10 inch clutch, everything fits perfectly. I'm using the 37 bell housing and transmission, a 38-39 fork, and a 38-39 bearing retainer on the transmission. I have been over things at least 3 times. I can adjust the linkage so the throw out bearing is rubbing on the fingers, but it still won't release the clutch. I'm starting to think that the clutch is not compatible with the pedal-linkage setup on this car. My question is, do different pressure plates require different amounts of spring compression to release the clutch? Anyone here with this experience? I'm stumped. Looking for some knowledge before I head further into the weeds.
