Can anyone share a picture of a rebuild kit for a '36 Master water pump? Or even just a picture of the impeller on a complete pump. I have a '36 Master Town Sedan and am looking to identify what the pump looks like inside without pulling it out.
Here are some pictures of a NORS or old stock rebuilt water pump for 1936. It is easy to mistake the 1935 and 1936 pumps for one another, as they are very similar. The impeller on the 1936 is 7/8 inch thick, the 1935 impeller is 3/4 inch thick. I believe the bolt pattern is slightly different to prevent them from being installed on the wrong engine. The design of the impeller could vary, depending on OEM, aftermarket, etc. I hope this helps.
I was wondering if they had designed a larger water pump since the '36 was the first Chevrolet block to have a full water jacket.
We found the '36 Master Town Sedan at a Chevrolet dealership in Cottonwood AZ while visiting my aunt in 2017. Although it appears everything has been rebuilt on the car no one had any history. A member in the CAR has some rebuild kits for various water pumps, I thought it might be a good idea to be preemptive and try to find a kit for the pump before one might be needed. I put one of the Filling Stations sealed water pumps on one of my '29s and it works well.
Art, I have a 1935 Chevy car and a 1936 Chevy truck. I watch eBay for items I need, or might need, at sometime in the future. '35 and '36 water pumps pop up regularly with prices ranging from fair to ridiculous. Beware, however that the eBay pumps are frequently described as fitting both '35 and '36. I buy when the price is right so I don't get stuck paying the big bucks when something breaks. At present, I have several 1935 pumps, but only the one 1936 pump in the pictures. None of these are eBay purchases. If I had another '36 pump, I would be glad to sell it. I think a fair price for these is in the range of $75.00. 1935 pumps were often supplied by Chevrolet without pulleys. I have them both with and without pulleys and they are available to anyone who would like to keep a spare on hand. Keep in mind that if you buy a kit, you will need to press off the pulley and reinstall it. There is always some danger that the pulley will be damaged or broken during this process. I have a pile of old stock kits but I don't recall if any of them are for '35 or '36.

P.S. The redesign of the pump from '35 to '36 might have something to do with the elimination of the baffle plate at the same time.
