I have replaced these bushings several times over the years on my '41 coupe. The rubber deteriorates due to exposure to oil and grease. If I welded the pitman arm's two pieces together, eliminating the bushings, would that work? Thanks, Sid

The purpose of these bushings is to eleminate road shock.

My first car in 1950 was a 1939 Master Deluxe. I bolted the two halves together and had no problems.
