I'm working on a 1950 chevy fleetline, with a newer 235 engine. the car is manual transmission and of course 4:11 differential. I know you can change that with a differential from a powerglide transmission. I found the differential but it has an XS tag on it. Does anybody know what the XS is for?

That’s the one to have! I’m looking at doing the same conversion to my ‘50 Fleetline, also. I have the rear end out of a ‘54 Powerglide car and intend to stay with the stock manual transmission and upgrade to a 235 so I can maintain highway speeds. Also plan to upgrade the front brakes to Bendix instead of Huck . The rear end already has Bendix. Keep us posted on your progress.

If it has a later rear end with Bendix braks it may have a 3.55 or 3,70 ratio already. i would recomend to remove the rear cover and see what you have.
