Hello! While waiting for the wood kit to arrive, I started the restoration of the fuel tank on the 28 roadster. The tank is currently soaking in a nice vinegar bath. Upon inspecting the fuel gage, I noticed that some of the lettering has faded. While this apart I would like to touch up the words and the letters. Does anyone know what type of paint can be used and the correct color? The gage was painted with red on a white background. Is that correct? The deeper I travel down this rabbit hole the more things have been done incorrectly or just half a....! looking forward to any insight.

Can I ask why you don't want to take the easy way and install the Filling Station AF-375 kit for '27 to '29 tank gauges?

The original gage is still working. If I can restore it, that would just be another part that is true to the car. If it was not operating properly I would replace it. I just need to freshen up some of the dots and empty.
