Leaking shift shaft seal 1950 pg

Is this a difficult job? Can it be replaced from the outside of the case ? Anyone have a victor or national number?

I searched parts books and manuals and found no direct answers. The outer lever is onnected o an inner llever which is then connected o the sliding vlalve. I believe if you remove the outter leer the O ring seal wiill ber exposed. All cast iron Powqr Glides were constucted the same in the area and the oil resistant rubber O ring was the same. The outter diameter of the O ring is listed as being 7/8" and thickness not spcified. It may be inide of the cup behind the outter lever.

Back in the day they never leaked being driven almost evey day the fluid never rose to this point becasue the converter did not have long enough time to leak down and over fill the sump.
