!938 Chevrolet

I have found there is several different hose diameters for the hose from the heater to the defroster vents that mount to the dash.

Does anyone have the correct heater with the defroster motor on top and the vents inplace that could measure the hose diameter?

Thank you in advance

. The same diameter pipe uses inside diameter and if it's called tubing, it uses outside diameter. IE; half inch pipe is 5/8" tubing. In the picture of a heater valve, the pipe threads are 3/8" pipe and fit 1929 - 54 water pumps. I believe that the 1955 - 63 used a half inch pipe thread. The smooth end is actual 5/8" OD, excluding the bead so fits a 5/8' ID hose. IE: use 5/8" ID hose. .
. Some folk say it originally used red hose. (??) . .

Lou, I believe he's referring to the hoses connecting the heater/defroster fan to the windshield outlets. To the OP, I think I have a piece of hose left over from when I added the heater to my 38. If no one answers your question soon remind me and I'll go measure it.

For what it's worth...

I THINK I get 1-1/2 inch ID on my '46 truck as well.
But it's pretty cold out there!

Make sure you get a blower with 2 outlets. I know that in 1937 there was only one windshield outlet for the driver's side.

. Oops! I should have read more carefully. I confused the radiator to heater hose with the defroster duct. .
. .
Sorry, . . Lou
