. 40-1217 means a 1940 "Master 85" business coupe. .
. K1726 is factory identification (No explanation) .
. 86 = inexpensive mohair tan pile fabric .
. 271 = Battleship gray with vermilion stripe
Look on web page <http://home.znet.com/c1937/paint.htm> for color chip. .

K1726 inicates it was the 1725th Master 85 buiness coupe body made at the Fisher Body plant in Kansas CITY.

The Master 85 was the lowest priced line and the buiness coupe the cheapest 1940 body style. There waa 25,340 made and sold for $659.

I apologize,,,,, I just bought a 1949 Desoto last week and I got it confused with the 1940 Chevrolet... I had a wisdom tooth removed today and I was a little foggy.
