Without a very long story I need a vin number for a 2001 / 2006 silverado with 6 speed manual trans (this is the last model to have manual trans), to access parts listing. If possible 2wd and 4wd numbers would make things a little easier to determine what parts I need to either convert a 4wd trans to 2wd or get the 4wd transfer box to add to what my son has for his C60 project. Hi Tony, Yes, the "old" way of indexing parts by year and model is going away. Last week I was at a holiday event at the BMW dealership. I was talking with one of the parts technicians. He said that their system no longer gives him the ability to look for any parts without a VIN. I wonder if it would help if you should join the SilveradoSierra Forum and ask for help.

Thank you rusty. I hadnt thought of them and wasnt literate enough to get google searching. When the vehicle is as it left the factory searching by vin is probably the best way to get the correct parts but when you start swapping things about it becomes 1 of the black snakes in the can that turn and bite, I have been bitten before and now that I am trying to retire shouldnt happen very often in the future.
