I just interacted with another scammer. Just another reminder to all of us. Someone visited Chevy Chatter, did not register on the site and wants to send me a certified cashier's check to my home for a part listed. He got my email address from the Chevy Chatter site. The problem is, that the certified check will be for much more money that I am asking for the part ( 42-48 wiper transmission ) + shipping. Therefore, I am to cash the certified check and mail him the extra balance that is not needed. The scammer will then send someone to my house to pick up the part ( which will never happen). Net result. I cash the bogus cashier's check, I send him the balance since his certified check is for much more than I require for the part + shipping and I keep my part. However, then after I send him a "refund", I find out from my bank that his cashier's check is now a fraud.
His bogus name and bogus email address by now will be deleted. Just an FYI
Dave

Many thanks for reminding us that unfortunately the way we use to trust each other and enjoy doing business with these classic vehicles no longer exists.
I continue to be amazed at all the variation of scams we encounter. Can you imagine how successful those people could be if they engaged in legitimate business?
If you do cash the check make sure the actual funds are credited to your account before you do any more, that way if the check isnt any good you are not left short of cash or part and if the check is good and they dont pick it up you win. Tony
