Friday night I received an email from a Marvin Ribbich from Eagle Wi in relation to the shock absorber I require for my truck. While I have advertised in places other than on Chatter my email address hasnt been included but Marvin has found it. If he is a genuine seller I will go ahead with the deal.

I've read the name before. He's a registered user here on Chatter. He's also a user over on stovebolt.com. His profiles are below. I googled his name and he participates on many forums. As long as you use a protected payment option like paypal you should be able to get your money back if it goes bad. As for getting your email all a user needs to do is click on your name then "view profile" to see your email.

Just to be sure, may be you could ask that the seller send you photos from several angles; front, back and sides etc. I would think it would create an obstacle most scammers could not defeat without actually having the item?

Some of the Facebook groups I follow are having lots of problems with scammers.

The request for additional photos is a good tactic. Asking for a photo that includes a front page from a recent newspaper or magazine or their hand holding or pointing to the part really stops the scammer.

Considering he has been seen on Chat I will go ahead, Chat is the only place I have posted that I know of that links user with an outside email. My guess is the shipping will cost me more than the shock absorber but this is the only lead I have found.
