Just saw this. Is there any reason for the pressure cap? Originally these were non-pressure systems. The vent/overflow tube was attached directly to the top tank.

No reason. The old cap wasn't in great shape(cheap finish), this one was. Picture purposes.

Yes, a pressure cap wil not work due to overflow on top of tank. That arangement went to 1939. 1948 was the ftrst radiator designed for pressure cap use.

He just put the pressure cap on for the photo... he is selling the radiator at a very good price... with or without the cap...
